Sustaining the Start-up Nation: Israel as a Global Business Partner

The PICC is proud to serve as a cooperating organization for a special luncheon featuring Dr. Moshe Zviran of Tel Aviv University hosted by the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia on August 19th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Israel, though only 67 years old and with a population of over 8 million, has the highest density of tech startups in the world. Tel Aviv is the world’s second leading startup ecosystem internationally, after Silicon Valley. In 2014, Tel Aviv University was #9 in the world for universities producing American venture capital-backed entrepreneurs.

zviranDr. Moshe Zviran, professor of Information Systems at the Recanati Business School and Dean of the faculty of Management at Tel Aviv University, will be in conversation with Craig Snyder, President and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, to discuss his work and Israel’s role as a global business partner.

Dr. Moshe Zviran is the incumbent of the Isaac Gilinsky Chair of Entrepreneurship, Technology, Innovation and Management and also serves as the academic director of the Eli Hurvitz Institute for Strategic Management. He received his B.Sc. degree in mathematics and computer science and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in information systems, all from Tel Aviv University, Israel. He held academic positions at the Naval Postgraduate School, California, the Claremont Graduate University, California, and Ben-Gurion University, Israel. His research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, information and cyber security and information systems planning and policy. Prof. Zviran has published numerous articles in leading academic journals and authored two books in information systems. He is also a consultant for leading organizations in Israel and serves as a board member in several companies and organizations.

Tickets are $30 for members, $45 for non-members, and $20 for full-time students and Millennial Members of the World Affairs Council.
