Qingbin Yuan is Sr. Director of R&D in The Hershey Company. In this role, Dr. Yuan is leading the R&D efforts of the international R&D by overseeing 4 regional R&D teams based in China, India, Brazil and Mexico.
After receiving his Bachelor and Master degrees in Food Science in China, Qingbin came to the U.S in 2001 and received his Ph.D in Food Science at the Pennsylvania State University in 2005. Dr. Yuan joined Hershey R&D as Assistant Scientist in 2006. After working as a scientist for 6 years, Dr. Yuan was promoted to be the director of Asia Innovation Center in Shanghai. Dr. Yuan is the major contributor to the establishment of the Hershey Asia Innovation Center and he served the role for 3 years in Shanghai as an expat before being promoted to his current position in October 2015. Dr. Yuan moved back to the U.S in April 2016. Before Dr. Yuan moved to the U.S., he had worked 5 years in China as sales manager in food ingredient industry. In addition to the role in Hershey, Dr. Yuan is also affiliated to the Institute of Food Technology (IFT), the largest food industry association in the U.S. In his spare time, Dr. Yuan enjoys church activities, gardening and playing tennis.
